About Boardies Day
What is it?
Boardies Day is a national fundraising event coordinated annually to raise funds for lifesaving services throughout Australia.
The concept of Boardies Day is simple… all Australians are encouraged to wear their board shorts or beach-themed apparel to work / school and make a donation to help our volunteer surf lifesavers.
When is it?
Boardies Day is on Friday, 3 December 2010. However if you can’t do that date, feel free to take part at anytime in November or December 2010, just call us and let us know on 1800 642 925.
Where is it held?
Everywhere! Most people arrange their own Boardies Day at school or their workplace, but basically as long as you are wearing boardies or beach attire, you can participate anywhere.
Who participates?
The beauty of Boardies Day is that no matter whether you are an individual or a large corporation; aged five or fifty; or live on the coast or in rural Australia, you can participate – all it takes is slipping on a pair of board shorts or wearing your favourite beach apparel and you are ready to go!
In 2010 it is expected that more than 100,000 Australians from schools, community groups, clubs, hospitals, pubs, hotels and businesses small and large, will celebrate the “life of the beach” and participate in Boardies Day.
How do I register?
Registrations can only be made online. Click here to register.
Once registered, a Boardies Day Kit will be sent out to you. Please allow at least 5 days after registering for your kit to arrive.
Where does the money raised go?
Boardies Day is not just another dress down day. It is a crucial revenue stream for many Surf Life Saving Clubs across the country. Surf Life Saving Clubs rely on funding from Boardies Day to assist in the purchase of vital rescue equipment; training and development of our future surf lifesavers; and delivery of educational programs to save lives well into the future.
When you bank your monies you can choose to either donate your funds directly to your favorite Surf Life Saving Club or allocate them to priority lifesaving services in your state.
